Find the best Black Friday deals at Columbia Gorge Outlets

Your Thanksgiving dinner should be about love, family, and decadent food. It should also be about eating just the right amount to gather strength to have a productive Black Friday the following day… or maybe even starting that very same evening.

The tenants of The Lodges at Lake Salish are lucky, as the Columbia Gorge Outlets are just a 7-minute car ride away. On Black Friday, the Outlets will be Mecca! They will open at 6 pm on Thanksgiving evening and remain open until 1 am. Then, they will re-open early on Black Friday. This will be your chance to get a jump on your holiday shopping.

Additionally, be aware of the season’s activities planned at the Outlets; things like Victorian carolers, pictures with Santa, and bagpipe music. Such events are planned throughout December (see exact dates here).

We wish you a delicious Thanksgiving meal, a busy Black Friday, and that you’ll get filled with holiday spirit!

Find fun and healthy pumpkins at Fazio Farms

Technically pumpkins are a fruit because they have seeds, but once cooked most people consider them a vegetable. Either way, this fruit/vegetable is quite good for you as it is full of potassium and Vitamin A. But the other great thing about pumpkins is that they are just plain fun. You can’t see one without thinking about a Halloween Jack-o-Lantern, or about your home decorated for the fall season. Or maybe even about a delicious pumpkin pie!

Do you still need to buy some pumpkins for your house? We can recommend Fazio Farms, a family business located at 9028 NE 13th Avenue in Portland 97211. They’re open from 4 pm to 8 pm during the week, and 9 am to 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. They can provide you with pumpkins of all sizes and colors, plus other fresh produce like cucumbers, squash, dill weed, and so forth.

Fazio Farms is just a 20-minute drive away from The Lodges. Find more information about them here.

It’s the perfect time for picnics, grilling, and outdoor parties. So why not invite some friends over and enjoy the summer while you can. We know outdoor parties are not ideal for apartment homes, however grilling on your patio is definately an option. Entertaining can be stressful but when you have awesome decor, there is no need to be! In this Summer DIY most of the materials, you already have. You will take your soup cans and recycle them into new pieces for your home decor.

What You Need:

• Empty vegetable pet food or soup cans, cleaned out and labels removed
• Water
• Nail
• Hammer
• Scrap paper
• Ruler
• Tape
• Spray paint (optional)

How To:

Gather your tin cans,  remove labels, and clean thoroughly. Fill each can with water and freeze overnight. The ice helps prevents it from bending when you punch holes in the cans.

Decide on a design for your decoration. You can draw the pattern out ahead of time on a piece of graph paper and tape it to the can as a guide.

Take a sharp narrow nail above each mark on your pattern and gently tap it 3-4 times with the hammer until just the point has punched the tin can.  Repeat until the pattern is completed.

Next, you will need to melt the ice in your can. Rinse hot water until the ice block pops out and allow the can to dry.

Drop in some lighted votive candles and enjoy your new piece of decor!

You are ready for your house gatherings!
